Your New Year must have started with new goals regarding your Career.

This article deals with thoughts about such move.

If you are a fresh graduate, you first option is to secure the job first, I mean any job to make money and survive.  In most of the cases, this is a suicidal move in terms of Career.

We tend to get carried away at spur of the movement to accept anything to prove our worth but in the long term that might not be a good idea.

We hardly put much thought into our career Planning when we graduate or when we start looking for a new job.

Career Planning is not thought in Colleges, they just graduate us hoping we have already done the career planning or we are capable of doing it.

Career Planning can be a piece of paper with well written objectives or options available to you. It can help put your thoughts together and reflect on them as you progress in your life. It can be a simple chart with your options listed at different intervals of your life span.

Without Career Plan, we are just going with the flow. We might get lucky with a good Career Progression job but most of the time, NOT.

As time goes by, we get stuck in the rut and never have time to start reinventing our Career.

For a Successful professional life, we need to think ahead 10-15 years in the horizon.

We rarely spend enough time on Career planning than on our pay raise celebration with our Family and Friends.

Spending couple of hours or weeks on Career Planning would give a big boost in your Life in terms of achievement and success.

For Experienced professionals, who started without a Career Plan, things get really tough as you reach the peak in terms of the years of experience but the not the growth. Most of us assume  things would fall in place as we go along in our life. But it seldom happens,

Luck can only play role for some people but not for all of us.

But it is never too late to introspect your Career path. It can as simple as getting another degree or training yourselves in new technology or new role at your company.  Again this should be done with clear goals and objectives. If at some point in your life, you think career is not for you, may be you should try something which you are passionate about.

It is easy to say, everybody cannot be a CEO or CIO but the truth of the matter is, did you give your best shot getting there? For most of us, the answer is NO.

At the end of the day or Career, you should be happy with you did with your life. All I am asking is don’t short sell your Career, your Intelligence and Your hard work. You deserve better.

For the New graduate, learn a lesson from our experience and proper.

PS: I am also trying to come up with Career Path charts. Watch this Blog for them.
